The Xbox Game Pass game library is getting a different kind of infusion in September. While other monthly updates for the subscription service tend to focus on AAA releases, this one is all about the indies. The September update for Xbox Game Pass includes both established indie hits and unreleased titles that caught early attention.
Starting September 16, Game Pass users will be able to download a number of extensive indies, including I Am Fish, Skatebird and Superliminal. The two animal-themed games are pretty straightforward. In I Am Fish, players help a water pet escape into the sea, while Skatebird is of course about a bird that can skateboard. Superliminal, on the other hand, is a puzzle title with a twisting perspective, in which the players have to think outside of their typical size ideas.
Just a few days later, on September 23rd, another sizeable group of titles will be released in Game Pass, including the incredibly stylish Sable, in which players adventure through a world of cel-shaded areas to guide Sable through an ancient rite of passage to lead.
Also on September 23rd, Lost Words: Beyond the Page and Tainted Grail: Conquest, a villainous deck builder full of grotesque monsters and strange allies, will be released. The sequel to Subnautica Subnautica: Below Zero will also make its Game Pass debut on September 23, taking players from a tropical alien planet to a frozen planet.
As always, a select group of titles will also be leaving Game Pass later this month. On September 31st, Drake Hollow, Ikenfell, Night in the Woods, Kathy Rain, and Warhammer: Vermintide 2 will all be leaving the service. Anyone not ready to say goodbye can purchase one of these titles at a 20% discount.
