The most recent Warzone patch fixes the dreaded “infinite useless silence” bug

If you have been shot down, knocked down, or otherwise harassed by the ninjas silently sprinting through Call of Duty: Warzone, worry no more. A patch for the game released today by developer Raven Software fixes the infinite Dead Silence bug, as well as several other minor issues that the burgeoning Battle Royale is having.

Dead Silence is a field upgrade in Call of Duty: Warzone that is meant to be used situationally as it wears off at some point. However, players have found a way to bypass this central mechanism. With players picking up the field upgrade in a pre-match lobby and activating it seconds before the game actually starts, players would fall with quiet steps onto the battlefield. In a game like Warzone, where every indicator is needed of where a player might be, that’s a big deal.

🛠️A #Warzone update is now live!

Includes bug fixes for the C58 (BOCW) Royal & Kross 4x Optic recoil, infinite dead silence, and more.

Today’s patch fixes the bug, which means that players can no longer silently run towards you with a nail gun. That being said, other issues with Warzone were not addressed in the patch, including the litany of scammers and other bugs some of which make players invisible.

In addition to fixing the Dead Silence bug, today’s patch for Call of Duty: Warzone has fixed a number of minor issues. The game’s obnoxious chat button has been temporarily removed while Raven Sofware is investigating an associated crash and fixing an issue with the C58 Royal and Kross 4x optics. A fix for the game’s Sentry Guns, which normally appear on the minimap but not when placed on a platoon, has also been introduced.
